The director of "Whale Rider," Niki Caro, turns her attention once again to women in a male dominated society. This time the focus is on a woman (Oscar winner Charlize Theron, "Monster"), rather than a teen. An abused single mother, with two kids, moves back in with her parents and is desperate to get a job. Her employment in an iron mine brings with it brutal sexual harassment. When she takes legal steps to end that negative behavior, her struggle to obtain support from her family and co-workers is a life altering experience. Based upon a true story. There are multiple Oscar nomination possibilities in this film to include Best Picture, actress, supporting actress and actor. Also stars Frances MacDormand (Fargo).
