For IMAX & even non-NASCAR fans alike, this is a fun ride!

I am not, nor have I ever been a NASCAR fan. The concept of sitting still and watching cars drive around in a circle for hours upon hours has never been all that appealing to me. After watching this film it still isn’t, but there is so much more that goes into a race than I ever imagined that I have a newfound respect for America’s number one spectator sport. I have, however always been an IMAX fan. We live in an age where movie theaters get bigger and bigger and many of the screens keep getting smaller and smaller, so the chance to have a cinematic experience on a screen 6 stories tall is hard to pass up no matter what the subject matter is.

This movie takes us on a journey from the origins of NASCAR that has its roots in the rural south during the bootlegging days and takes you through, step by step of the process that can put as many as 250,000 fans at a track for a particular race. It shows you how each and every car is made from the ground up and how all the specifications and detail that goes into each car almost rivals the construction and possibly cost of a Lunar Lander! Of course what NASCAR movie would be complete without crashes and there are plenty of those to go around in this one also.

Again, I went into this movie as nobody’s NASCAR fan and I’m not here to announce that I’ve converted, but I found this movie very informative and entertaining. One more word of advice: this movie, as you might imagine, is VERY LOUD so people with sensitive wolf-like ears might want to take heed, but assault on the ears aside, this is a very good time at the IMAX.
