Boys and their toys

In a dark expose on what some have called the human disconnect, director Robert Parigi tells a dark tale of how disconnecting from regular human interaction can plug you into a whole other set of problems.

Our lead character in this movie is a young man named Kenneth. Kenneth is a fantastic editor and author of instruction booklets, not a terribly exciting job; but since Kenneth is as vanilla as it gets, it’s actually a good match. One day Kenneth is shown a brochure for a life sized, plastic sex toy named Nikki, and after going online and paying over 10,000 bucks for her, he finds her quite unsatisfactory as her lifeless self. He then molds her into the image of his new co-worker named Lisa. The more he makes plastic Nikki like the real Lisa, the better he is able to relate to Lisa because of Nikki. Confused yet? Well it gets much worse.

Nikki appears to take over Kenneth’s life, he has conversations with her, envisions her calling him on the telephone, telling him what to do. His descent into madness concludes with him trying to surgically transform the live Lisa into an inanimate object like Nikki.

This is as dark a movie as I have seen in quite awhile. Kenneth’s personality goes from bland to dark to black, and the most disturbing thing is that Kenneth’s demeanor doesn’t change much, just his mannerisms. This is a well told story and well played out, but be forewarned, this isn’t the most comfortable you will be sitting in a movie theater seat as you watch this film.
