Cremaster 3
Cremaster 3 is the concluding installment of artist Matthew Barney's Cremaster film cycle of "an epic journey that infuses Celtic mysticism with 20th century modernism, blockbuster bombast with hermetic aesthetics." I'm not sure what that means, but that is what is contained in the press release. It was shot at two of New York Cities key landmarks, the Chrysler Building and the Guggenheim Museum in addition to locales in Scotland, Ireland and upstate New York.
The film follows The Entered Apprentice (Barney) "as he endures torture and travails in order to ascend each building. Peopled by ogres and gangsters, chorus girls and Barney's bizarre universe is never less than stunning.
Also features appearance by sculptor Richard Serra, athlete Aimee Mullins, and hardcore bands such as Agnostic Front and Murphy's Law.
For Mature audiences with a running time of 182 minutes.
