"Illinois' film industry faces a number of challenges both domestically and internationally," Lavin said. "Brenda's business acumen, combined with her personal experience in the film industry, will serve her well as we work to make Illinois a top competitive destination for film and television production."
Sexton was most recently Executive Managing Director of GVA Williams Real Estate Services and also contributed to Reelmoviecritic.com as a film critic. She co-teaches film classes at the Latin School of Chicago and provided radio reports from the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.
During her more than twenty years in the commercial real estate business, Sexton has worked with companies such as Abbott Labs, Brunswick Corporation, McKinsey & Company and Hartford Insurance .
"I look forward to working with the Illinois Production Alliance and all of our partners in the Illinois film industry in addressing the issues that are impacting so many of our workers in the production field," Sexton said. "Producing award winning movies such as Road to Perdition is an art, but the process of getting the productions to come to Illinois is all about business, and I plan on exerting all my energy in bringing that business here."
Sexton is an Executive Board Member with the Chicago Film Critics Association and the Goodman Theater Women's Board. She received a Bachelor of Arts from University of Denver and an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management.
