Sex, lies & that's about it

Monica Calhoun: Mia DuBois

Michael Jai White: Hampton Hines
Kristoff St. John: Victor DuBois
Directed by Rob Hardy

30 Second Bottom Line: Sex!  Now that I have your attention, this movie doesn't even do enough to keep you into it till the next sex scene.

Story Line: Dr. Mia DuBois is a psychologist who is very good at her job, so much so that her ability to help other people with their problems makes it that much more confusing for her that she cannot figure out what is going wrong in her failing marriage.

Mia meets Donna under the most extreme circumstances, while taking a gun out of her hand at the crime scene of her husband's murder.  One thing you can be pretty sure of in movies, as well as in life sometimes, relationships that start on an extreme note are almost guaranteed to have an extreme tone.  Such is the inevitability with Mia & Donna.  Donna reveals the hot & erotic circumstances surrounding her & her late husband's marriage.  As intriguing as that was for Mia, Donna took it even deeper when she revealed to Mia the existence of Pandora's Box a sex club in which the only rule is "there are no rules."

Things get more interesting when Mia meets Hampton Hines at Pandora's Box.  Hampton has Mia so open, there is nothing she won't

try with him, nothing she won't do if he asks her.  So naturally when Hampton finds out that Mia isn't happy in her marriage and she stands to inherit 20 million dollars on her next birthday, he asks if she wants her husband "taken care of."

Tell Me More About It: The first line of my 30 second bottom line tells the story here. The best parts of this movie are the sex scenes.  They are really, REALLY, um "inspiring."  Some of the best since "9 ½ Weeks" & "Body Heat" in my opinion, if you discount their brevity.  But the writing is poor, & the performances are weak.  Its also real obvious that Calhoun is pregnant, not the character, but the actor & not once is it alluded to or mentioned, they even did a real poor job of hiding it! Also Donna Biscoe, who played Donna, has a mustache; nothing real thick but nothing that 5 minutes in front of a mirror with a Bic shaver wouldn't take care of.  No biggie, a lot of women have `em, but it wasn't part of the plot, nor was it relevant to the character & with all the close-ups on her, it got downright distracting.

Rated R for strong sexuality, some violence, language
