Three buddies, Mitch, Frank & Beanie (Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn) have arrived at their first mid life crisis not long after turning thirty. They are sure that the decisions they have chosen regarding their careers and love lives are not giving them the expected fulfillment anticipated during their "youth."
To rekindle that old spark, the trio decides to form a fraternity at the local college and live the wild life once again. You don't even have to attend the college to pledge, which is proven by one 89-year-old candidate that looks like he's well over 100.
There must be something to turning back the clock because George found himself laughing when he was not expecting to, in what he thought would be just another dumb movie. Yeah, it is dumb, but in a nice way. A few of the things he reluctantly admits that he likes are Frank the streaker, Beanie's self importance with his six Speaker City (think Tweeter) stores, and the octogenarian and his reaction to the removal of two bikini tops. The distaff side of this duo was not equally impressed.
Aided by a strong supporting cast, including Ellen Pompeo (Moonlight MileandCatch Me If You Can) and Juliette Lewis (Enough) along with cameos by Snoop Dogg, Andy Dick and others, "Old School" is a laugh out loud comedy. Not even close to Oscar worthy and that's a good thing.
